Good news for managers consider moving towards virtual offices: 75 percent of workers say the opportunity provided by devices such as smart phones and laptops to remain in constant contact with work is a positive development, even though approximately one third are working longer hours. In deciding where to work, 87 percent of respondents say a policy for working remotely is an important factor.

This is according to the Global Workforce Index, published by Kelly Services, which obtained the views of approximately 100,000 people in 34 countries covering North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. The research shows that the ability for employees to work anywhere, at any time is a motivating force behind improved employee engagement and a better balance between work and personal life.
