Correcting Windows XP SP3 and Vista Certificate Warning with Outlook 2007



WARNING:
Use the instructions below at your own risk. SyncMyMail will not be held responsible for any configuration errors made by end-users. In addition to being familiar with modifying your registry, it is recommended that you also back up your registry before following the below procedure.

1. Open Internet Explorer and launch the Windows Update Service by selecting Tools -> Windows Updates

2. Download and install all listed Microsoft Office 2007 updates

3. After the updates are installed and your computer is rebooted download http://cp.exchangecarrier.net/files/autodiscover.zip and extract the file autodiscover.xml to a location on your hard drive. (Ex. c:autodiscover.xml)

4. Launch the registry editor by clicking on Start -> Run, type regedit and click Ok.

5. Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice12.0OutlookAutoDiscover

6. Right click on Autodiscover and select New -> String Value. Enter the name of your domain as the name and the location to the autodiscover.xml file in step 3 as the value data.

7. Close the Registry and launch Notepad from Start -> Accessories. If you are running Windows Vista you will need to right click on Notepad and select 'Run as Administrator'.

8. Open the file 'c:windowssystem32driversetchosts' and add the following line (Substitute yourdomain.com with your actual domain name)

127.0.0.1 autodiscover.yourdomain.com

9. Save the file (overwriting your existing hosts file) and launch Outlook. You should no longer receive the certificate warning.
